The CRCPRA Planning Committee is excited to announce that our popular Science Exploration Day will take place on Saturday May 17th from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM (a cookout lunch is included!). Similar to last year, 3 concurrent sessions will take place at 9, 10 and 11 AM with onsite registration starting at 8:30 AM.
This year’s sessions will include:
Rivers and Rocks: Learn how rivers and streams shape our landscape and how they transport sediments. Explore the various types of rocks and minerals deposited at the Colfax-Red Cedar Preserve. Retired Science Instructor Paul Verdon will lead this lesson.
Critter Search-What lives in the Ferry Pond: Discover what kind of critters call Ferry Pond their home. Learn how to collect, identify and discover the role these critters play in the food chain of Ferry pond. Expect to have fun while learning about the wonderful world of pond life! Retired Science Instructor Mark Mosey will lead this lesson.
Grassland Bugs, Critters and Plants: Learn about the ecology of a grassland. What kinds of creatures live here? What unique adaptations do they have? UW-Stout Biology Professor Keith Gilland will lead this lesson.
- Lessons will be hands-on in nature and last approximately 50 minutes
- Lessons will be geared towards students in grades 2-6 but learners of ALL Ages are welcome to attend! Parents are asked to accompany young children.
Lunch will be provided at 12 Noon! (Thank you to local Merchants!) Lunch includes grilled wieners, chips, fruit and drinks.
